Do you have a harpsichord/spinet/virginal that is unplayed and gathering dust and you would like to help a young musician?
Ayesha is 14 and a talented young musician who plays violin, viola and piano all to diploma level, plays in numerous national and local orchestras and chamber groups and also composes. She has recently had some harpsichord lessons and has fallen in love with the instrument. Unfortunately, with no access to an instrument locally or at home (Leicestershire), she is unable to pursue this interest.
If you have an instrument that is in good playable condition, that isn’t getting the playing it deserves, but you don’t want to part with it permanently, would you consider loaning it to Ayesha? We would obviously pay for transport and ongoing insurance. She is very responsible and already cares very well for a valuable violin and viola on loan from a music charity. Wanted: Old tools, plans, material; anything related to harpsichord making

I am an artist, woodworker, and graduate arts student at Goldsmiths University in London. I am currently working on a body of sculptural work researching methods of harpsichord construction. In order to produce the project, I am sourcing used/broken tools, bending forms, clamps, rigs, jigs, scraps, discarded projects, drawings/design plans, and forgotten bits of material from harpsichord craftspeople in the UK. I would love to collect anything of the sort you may have set aside in the wood shop, and can provide a small fee if necessary. I would also love to hear about your harpsichord making practices in the process.
