“Jerome” is an ideal first harpsichord or a harpsichord for someone interested in an especially early style of instrument.

Jerome was designed after Jerome of Bologna’s instrument of 1521, which is mentioned in Russell (plates 5 & 6).
Built in 1977 by Don Garrod, a well-known and pioneering maker and player
2 x 8’ registers. Compass CC/EE – d3, short octave. Stop levers on wrest-plank.
Strung in brass, Delrin plectra recently revoiced by Alex Temple. Tunes to A440.
Currently, the two lowest notes are not fully functional.
Stand and matching stool designed by Don Garrod aping a slightly later instrument, as the original Jerome had neither.
