This is, naturally, a continuing project: we have published so far initial lists of composers and their works from Britain and the rest of Northern Europe in the renaissance and baroque periods. Further sections will follow on composers from other parts of Europe.
There is virtually no limit to the further detail that could be gone into: we have tried for the time being to compromise by listing editions which are relatively full and scholarly but which are also accessible. (Links to on-line sources of supply are included at the end of the list.) The immediate aim is to assist interested beginners by listing the principal music for harpsichord that is available; we would hope that in time the list will be much extended and will become increasingly detailed and scholarly, and so of some use at professional levels.
We should be most grateful for email notes of any perceived errors or suggestions for further items.
