
Charlotte Wilson studied piano at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester under Kathryn Stott and Carole Presland before switching to the harpsichord in 2005. She then completed a Masters degree on the harpsichord, with Sharon Gould. Thanks to funding from the Musicians Benevolent Fund and The Countess of Munster Trust, she is currently working for a further diploma in harpsichord performance at the RNCM.
With her baroque group, Consort 1700, Charlotte has performed for the Harlech Music Society, Friends of the Whitworth, the Buxton Festival and in Bridgewater Foyer. In contrast, the group also works for Live Music Now!, seeking to bring music to people with special needs, disabilities, children and the elderly.
In October 2006 Charlotte worked with Mike Thompson and Melinda Maxwell, performing Thomas Ades’ Sonata da Caccia for oboe, horn and harpsichord in the RNCM Blast Festival. In December 2006 she performed in a Spotlight Concert with the RNCM baroque orchestra, and recently accompanied a public master class with Emma Kirkby.
She regularly performs with the New English Orchestra. Touring with the NEO has taken Charlotte to Colston Hall, the Bridgewater Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall, among other venues. December 2006 saw her perform Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 with them in the Liverpool Cornerstone Festival.
In May 2007, Charlotte made her London début with a recital for the British Harpsichord Society at the Handel House Museum, which was warmly received. Future engagements include a recital a recital in Weymouth on June 20th (St Mary's Church, St Mary Street, at 1pm). She will playing works by Bach/Teleman, Buxtehude, Sweelinck, Bach, and Scarlatti. Charlotte recently came joint second in the Broadwood Harpsichord Competition.
