PENELOPE CAVE & EMMA MURPHYMonday 4th-Thursday 7th August 2003
Explore the rich repertoire of 18th century chamber works & discover new textures and sonorities.
An opportunity to explore a form that was used throughout the 18th century, as ubiquitous as the classic string quartet and to play this exciting music in different instrumental combinations. Penelope Cave will focus on the manner of accompanying these works with both harpsichord and continuo bass and also with a suitable piano-style. As a recorder player, Emma Murphy has a particular interest in Telemann. Reasonable skills are required as some sight-reading will be inevitable. Ready-formed groups or individuals are welcome to apply and if possible, they will be put in touch with each other to facilitate the choice & preparation of repertoire.Early application is advised as this course fills-up fast and places are limited to provide a suitable balance of instruments and ability.
